Humble Origin
In 1958, an optometrist, Dr. Irving Fradkin, came up with a simple idea. What if everyone in his community could donate a dollar to a scholarship fund that would fund every student attending college?
It worked. Dollars for Scholars was founded in 1958 in Fall River, Massachusetts. Eventually, it would change its name to Scholarship America Hub.
On May 15, 1961, Scholarship America became officially chartered under the name “Citizens’ Scholarship Foundation of America”.
The current President and CEO of Scholarship America is Robert C. Ballard
It became the largest non-profit private scholarship organization in the United States.
The goal was to create a world where equity is central and grants students access to opportunities to learn, grow, and succeed.
In 2016, the organization was able to distribute over $225 million to over 100,000 American and international students through their programs.
Scholarship America was ranked as the 83rd largest U.S. charity in 2012 by Forbes with a total revenue of $155 million.
Scholarship Programs
There are over 111 scholarship programs available in the Scholarship America Hub. Each of them offers a distinctive scholarship opportunity for different students across the world.
Students who have rare living diseases and others suffering from chronic inflammatory diseases can also apply.
As stated earlier, this organization helps students who are either physically or financially challenged to attend college.
I will be listing some major scholarship programs being offered and detailing the eligibility criteria.
#RAREis SCHOLARSHIP FUND
This scholarship is open every academic year to support students living with rare diseases.
The Every Life Foundation established the #RAREis Scholarship Fund to award 32 scholars each $5,000 for vocational/technical, undergraduate, or graduate study every semester.
To be eligible, applicants must have permanent residence in the United States. The scholarship is for students who have been diagnosed by a physician as having any form of rare disease, regardless of treatment status.
Upon application, you will be asked to submit a Diagnosis Verification Form from a certified physician. Undiagnosed applicants can apply with a completed Diagnosis Verification Form by a physician.
Applicants must enroll in part-time or full-time undergraduate or graduate studies in any accredited 2-4years college, university, or vocational-technical/trade school. Individual financial needs will be considered.
A single-class enrollment provided it is accredited, will be considered as a part-time study.
The scholarship opens every year in March and closes on the 21st of April.
ABBVIE IMMUNOLOGY SCHOLARSHIP
The AbbVie Immunology Scholarship is available for students every academic year.
The scholarship is designed to financially support excellent students suffering from chronic inflammatory diseases. Students are awarded up to $15,000 each.
This fee, however, varies depending on the type of degree the recipient is pursuing.
Applicants must have permanent residence in the U.S.
Interested candidates must be diagnosed by a healthcare professional with one of the following: ankylosing spondylitis (AS), Crohn’s disease (CD), hidradenitis suppurativa (HS).
Other categories include juvenile idiopathic arthritis (JIA), psoriasis (Ps), psoriatic arthritis (PsA), rheumatoid arthritis (RA), ulcerative colitis (UC), or uveitis (UV).
Students who qualify must enroll in a full-time undergraduate or graduate program at an accredited four-year college or university.
Scholarships are awarded based on academic excellence, community involvement, and a positive role model character in the immunology community.
The application opens every year in October and closes in December.
DR. MlCHEAL and MRS. KAY WILCOX EDUCATION FUND
The Dr. Michael and Mrs. Kay Wilcox Education Fund provides renewable scholarships for undergraduates in health care-related fields.
Applicants must be seniors in high school or have graduated from New Prague High School in Minnesota.
Undergraduate students who are awarded from the fund must enroll in an approved health care-related field at an accredited college.
It is intended that awardees would work in a medically underserved area or community in the state of Minnesota after graduation.
Scholarship applications are open every year from February.
DUNKIN’ PHILADELPHIA REGIONAL SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM
This scholarship aims to ease the financial burden of students applying to colleges throughout the greater Philadelphia region.
The Dunkin’ Philadelphia Regional Scholarship Program awards $5,000 scholarships to 20 students for undergraduate study during the 2023–24 academic year.
Applicants must be high school seniors or current undergraduate students who reside or attend college in Southeastern Pennsylvania, South New Jersey. h
Applicants must enroll in a part-time or full-time undergraduate program at an accredited college, university, or technical school.
The criteria for selecting recipients will be based on academic records, leadership skills, and commitment to the school and their local community.
FAMILIES OF FREEDOM SCHOLARSHIP FUND
On September 11, 2001, the terrorist attacks on the United States left the whole world in sh0ck.
However, through the hospitality of individuals and corporations all over the globe, $108 million was raised to fund this long-term scholarship program.
Scholarship America Hub, along with the Lumina Foundation, created a fund to provide education assistance for the financially needy survivors of those killed or permanently disabled.
This will help administer the Families of Freedom Scholarship Fund to eligible families through to the year 2030.

FINK SCHOLARSHIP FUND
The Fink Scholarship Fund offers renewable scholarships of up to $25,000 each year to Minnesota high school seniors, graduates, and freshmen.
To be eligible, you must be a Minnesota resident who is currently enrolled or preparing to enroll full-time in undergraduate studies at any approved university for the academic year.
Applicants must show and prove the need for financial assistance from the college.
Scholarships of up to $25,000 will be awarded to five students attending four-year schools.
These scholarships are renewable for up to three additional years.
An extra five scholarships of up to $10,000 will be offered to students attending two-year universities, and these can be extended for an additional year.
Full-time attendance and acceptable academic performance are required for all renewals

Standard Eligibility Requirements
All applicants applying through the Scholarship America Hub are expected to meet the following criteria to be considered for the award.
However, this doesn’t guarantee that you might get the scholarship as individual schools also have their own respective requirements.
Therefore, I will be listing the basic requirements, you need to meet before you can apply.
- Candidates should be 17 years of age.
- Be U.S. Citizens, holders of a permanent resident card. Individuals granted deferred action status under the Deferred Action in Childhood Arrivals Program are also considered.
- Received a high school diploma or an equivalent from a U.S. School before the start of the academic calendar.
- Completed or expected to complete a minimum of one full year of postsecondary education before applying.
- Aim to enroll in full-time undergraduate study at the sophomore year level or higher in an accredited two- or four-year college in the first year.
- Studying to obtain a Bachelor’s degree or an associate degree in your choice of school.
- A minimum CGPA average of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.
- Demonstrate the need for financial assistance.
